Proms Reprise

It's Proms season again and I was recently commissioned to create the cover for the current issue of BBC Music to celebrate it. The design had to feature the Royal Albert Hall, of course, with this year's stars and highlights composed around a tricky CD fronted cover layout. It was great to have another crack at a Proms themed illustration after working on the main event branding imagery three years in a row from 2008-10. You can see that previous Proms work here.

Images 35

Bit of a delayed post this but what the hey? I popped along to the AOI Images 35 Exhibition a couple of weeks ago at Bankside Gallery London for this year's awards night. Had a top evening catching up with friends and colleauges and checked out some of the great work on show. My BBC Proms 2010 illustration was hanging in the Advertising category and goes on tour with the exhibition across the country. Also picked up the new Images 35 book and here's a spread with a few of my bits and pieces that passed muster with the judges.

Down The Albert

Popped over to the Albert Hall this week to get some cheeky snaps of the Proms illustration in full swing before the festy ends next month. Lovely evening for it.

As Seen On TV

It's Promsmania at the moment as the big Beeb music festival kicks off for three months. Spotted this well-made ad on the tellybox featuring my illustration being painted on a massive billboard in a park with crowds of people walking blindly into it. Can't say I had anything to do with the making of the ad but it's sure nice to be a part of it.

Proms Me Thrice

And now for a London Summer event illustration I am proud to have out there. For the third year running I've been lucky enough to create the BBC Proms main brand illustration and, if I do say so myself, this is probably the best one yet. The Guide book has just been released and features some lovely silver typography on the cover courtesy of the designers at Premm. I've been told today that it's already racking up the sales and is making it's way up the non-fiction bestseller list...woop. Here's a shot of a window display at Daunt Books, Marylebone. Proms Me Badd!

It was a barmy old evening yesterday so I took off on my bike around London and snapped the Albert Hall en route while it's still coated in the Proms illustration work. Also spotted it on a bus in Trafalgar Square the other day which I narrowly avoided smashing into the side of...mmmmm

As Seen On The Tube

Whadda we have here? Proms ads all over London town as the event starts tomorrow.
