Never Let Me Go

Earlier in the year I submitted an illustration for the annual Folio Book Illustration Award, a competition I enjoy entering to challenge myself with a narrative brief. This year it was to select a passage to illustrate from the first chapter of Kasuo Ishiguro's novel Never Let Me Go. A scene where a duck pond is described to a bed-ridden patient to imagine stood out for me and this was my interpretation with some visual references to DNA/organic material alluding to the wider themes of the novel. Didn't make the shortlist this year but had fun creating it and look forward to the next challenge. See this on the site here with other entries for the competition.

Mindblob

More playtime experimentation with Cinema 4d and After Effects here with a piece called 'Mindblob'. This one found me in a funny mood and was the result of wanting to mix high-end Redshift 3d renders with distressed textures and grungy effects. On reflection, it's probably a good visual representation of my, ofttimes, chaotic creative thought process. Wonderful acid accompaniment again from Mobile Mother and their track Acid Eagle.
