Alien Trees, Termite Cities and Portable X-Rays

Cripes, it's 2016! Seems like we're already in the future so to start the year here's the latest batch of monthly sci-fi illustrations for BBC Focus' appropriately titled column Into The Future by Stephen Baxter. First up is a look at how trees might grow extremely tall on alien worlds should there be weaker gravity. The future of cities was also contemplated with this imagining of a metropolis based on termite mounds with their natural ventilation. Finally, a look at how astronauts might be able to effectively treat themselves medically on long distance journeys with portable x-ray devices. You can see all the work for the column on the site here.
